DRAFT, pending attorney review. Plain-English beta terms. Not final.

Alfred Terms of Service

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

These Terms are an agreement between you and Little Zhuzh Zhuzh LLC, a Texas limited liability company doing business as Alfred ("we" or "us"). They cover Alfred by text message, iMessage, phone call, and our website, text-alfred.com (the "Service"). By texting, messaging, or calling Alfred, adding Alfred to a chat, or signing up for a plan, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy (text-alfred.com/privacy) and Messaging Terms (text-alfred.com/sms-terms).

1. What Alfred is

Alfred is an AI assistant with the manners of an English butler. He lives in your texts. He helps households with everyday logistics: putting events on your calendar, sending reminders, keeping shared lists, and answering questions. Alfred is in beta, so features may change, break, or go away. During the beta, chats may be viewed to fix problems (see the Privacy Policy). We also use chats to improve Alfred unless you turn that off by texting "stop improving" (see the Privacy Policy).

2. Alfred is an AI, and AI makes mistakes

Alfred is a computer program, not a person. He can misread a message, get a date or time wrong, miss a reminder, or say something confidently that is not true. Check anything important, especially dates, times, pickups, and anything involving your kids' safety. Alfred is not a substitute for your own judgment.

3. Not advice, not an emergency service

Nothing Alfred says is financial, investment, legal, medical, tax, or other professional advice. Alfred does not make trades, move money, or manage investments. Talk to a qualified professional before making decisions about health, money, or legal matters. In an emergency, call 911. Alfred cannot dispatch help.

4. Who can use Alfred

5. Group chats

When you add Alfred to a group chat, you confirm that you have the right to do so and that you have told the other members about Alfred. Alfred introduces himself when he joins, with a link to these Terms. Anyone in the chat can reply STOP, and Alfred will stop posting in that chat. Everyone in a group can see Alfred's replies, so think before sharing private details there.

6. Calendars, reminders, and lists

If you connect a calendar (such as Google Calendar), you let Alfred add, change, and remove the events you ask for. You can disconnect at any time from your Google account settings or by texting Alfred "disconnect calendar." Reminders are sent on a best-effort basis. Message delivery depends on carriers and Apple, and a reminder can be late or never arrive. Do not rely on Alfred as the only reminder for medicine, safety, or anything that cannot be missed.

7. Price, trials, renewal, and cancellation

Beta. Alfred is free during the friends-and-family beta. We will never charge you without first telling you the price and getting your agreement.

Paid plans (when offered). Prices are shown before you sign up. Today's list prices are $20 a month for one person, $30 a month for a couple, and $10 a month for each extra family member. A plan may start with a trial that needs a card or Apple Pay. A trial may be free or have a small charge to start (for example, $1 for the first 30 days), and the price is shown before you agree. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the plan renews automatically every month and your payment method is charged until you cancel. We will text you before a trial converts.

Canceling. Text Alfred "cancel my plan" or email hello@text-alfred.com. During a trial, it ends right away and nothing further is charged (a trial's starting charge, such as $1, is not refunded). After that, you choose: keep access until the end of the period you paid for, or end now and get a prorated refund for the unused days. If you don't choose within 24 hours, you keep access until the end of the period. Otherwise payments are non-refundable except where the law says so.

8. Purchases and bookings (if offered)

Alfred will not buy or book anything without asking you by text first and getting a clear yes. When you say yes, you authorize that purchase or booking. Make It Right: if Alfred carries out something different from what you approved, we will fix it or pay what the mistake cost you, up to $250 per mistake and $500 per account in any 12 months. This does not cover something you approved by mistake, or merchant problems after a correct order. Claim within 30 days at hello@text-alfred.com.

One shared computer per couple. Alfred's booking powers run on one remote computer (a cloud browser) for your household, to start. Every card and account you connect there is shared by your household: anyone in a chat with Alfred and your household can ask Alfred to use them. If you wouldn't trust everyone in that chat with your credit card, don't connect one. Alfred still texts the person who signed up for a clear yes before buying anything.

9. Fair use

Don't use Alfred to break the law, harass anyone, spam, add Alfred to chats with people who don't want him, try to copy or extract how Alfred works, use his answers to train another AI, or get around limits. We may limit, pause, or block a number or account that breaks these rules. Free use has generous daily limits that we may change.

10. Your content

Your messages stay yours. You let us use them to run, secure, and improve Alfred as the Privacy Policy describes. You may use Alfred's replies for your own purposes.

11. Our side of the deal

We will try hard to make Alfred useful and reliable, but the Service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, missed or late reminders, calendar errors, or decisions you make based on Alfred's replies. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or $50. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. The Make It Right promise in Section 8 is separate from this limit.

12. Disputes

Please email hello@text-alfred.com first; we will try to fix it within 30 days. Texas law governs these Terms. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Bexar County, Texas, or to small claims court where it qualifies. [ATTORNEY: decide whether to add arbitration.]

13. Ending things and changes

You can stop at any time. Text "delete my data" and an administrator erases your data within 30 days, except what the Privacy Policy says we must keep (such as billing records for tax law, a minimal do-not-contact record, and abuse records for up to 2 years). We may suspend or end the Service, or a feature, at any time; if we end a paid plan for a reason other than your breach, we refund the unused part. We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you by text or on our website at least 14 days before it takes effect.
